it’s a love song! they’re saying that girls are liars when they say, “lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off” and they’re promiscuous.
    Look up harlequin.
And the line is, “hold a lover close” meaning, hold on to your bf/gf.
    Hope this helps!!

    Love the song =)

    testosterone boys – horny boys
    harlequin girls – posh protestutes

    Panic At The Disco Sucks

  • bandlover1230:

they are just making a point that boys and girls are different and hold a lover close means i love you.

  • Katy:

A harlequin is a clown or buffoon, meaning the boys are raging with hormones and the girls are fools who give them what they want.
It is definitely speaking of a female’s need for romance, but anyone who has ever read a harlequin romance knows that they are trashy and cliche, which puts a very cynical spin on the whole situation. additionally, the use “testosterone boys” really makes it seem artificial and instinctive. It’s an excellent comparison and perhaps a statement not simply about teenage romance, but also sexual activity among teens. Girls do it because society has conditioned them to, boys do it because of sheer animal instinct.

    omg love this song
Harlequin girls are girls that are the kind of girls u find in love stories they are the stereo type lovey dovey ppl they are trashy and often shallow people

Testosterone boys- Guys with lots of hormones

so it’s only common that the testosterone guys fall for the Harlequin Girls and thats why they say “Testosterone boys and Harlequin girls will u dance to this beat and hold a lover close?”

    so it’s “Hold a lover close”not a lover close

    Hope i helped!

basically, the song is about cheating on your partner, so basically, guys and girls, even when they’re feeling promiscous, should not cheat, and hold tight to their lovers
