This seems a bit too generic. Great for a card, but not very personal. I say this as someone who really likes love poems … okay I love love poems. I remember writing a poem like this once back in my twenties and the girl frowned and said, “why is this poem to me? It could have been for anyone.” And she was right. It’s not enough to make blanket declarations of love, you need to show not only the person you wrote the poem for, but any reader, that you are committed to your declarations, and that they really do mean something to you. Now besides that… there’s the business of cliches: “…loved a thousand times;” “without you I would die;” “magic in your eyes” (there’s a special Visine for this now); “deep into my heart;” “nothing will break (or tear) us apart”. Those have just got to go. Imagine there’s someone else out there attempting to gain the favor of your lover’s heart, is this the poem you send? No, it is not. This poem gets you home by 9, drinking a beer and looking up old girlfriends to call.
